This Morning’s Walk

2

April 12, 2012 by Shannon

It was so nice and cool out this morning.  Perfect for a walk.  Because Rama will eventually be running alongside my bike (and I have a bike trailer on it, which makes some noise), I’ve been walking her with the bike for a while now to get her used to it.  I have a child seat on the front of it as well, and all together these things do make some noise.  When I begin running her, I would like her not to freak out about all of that and about the large bike trailer “following” her.
I have also gotten her used to wearing the large leather working harness, as I do not want her to be alongside the bike with anything attached to her neck or head.  She is also allowed to be slightly more out in front as opposed to what I allow when we are walking with a stroller, but she still must remain to the left of my front tire and be able to take cues as to which direction we will be going.
So, for the last few weeks she’s been getting used to this, and when I decided to break out the stroller and walk today, it took her a few moments to process.  I started her out with a regular training collar, but as you can see by the picture and the multiple collars, we rapidly switched to the head collar.

Good for you!! Keep working hard on Rama's socialization!! She is doing great!!
We drove to an outdoor garden store earlier this afternoon, where I met this two-year old BEAUTIFULLY UNIQUE Poodle/Schnauzer cross. He was terribly frightened by me, and everything else!! The poor thing!! His owner had brought him along to work toward socialization issues….

The blue hue in all the photos was quite relaxing 🙂 Mom would like to take me on bike runs butt says if a cat happened to cross our path, she'd be in the hospital. Guess we'll keep hoofin it 😉

    Waggin at ya,
    Roo
