A Corso In The Kitchen–Flatbread Sirloin Burgers

April 27, 2012 by Shannon

I’m not a big burger person.  I never have been.  I can take beef or leave it.  However, since we’ve been getting our meats from our local butcher, I’ve discovered I have a new appreciation for beef.  Sirloin patties in particular.  I usually forgo the bun (it always seems like too much bread), but this time I decided to use some flatbread I had in the fridge.  I simply rough cut it to fit the patties and found that I enjoyed the burgers so much more this way.  They weren’t too bready and being that the flatbread was seasoned, they gave another dimension of flavor to the burgers.

The part of my shadow was played by–yep, you guessed it–Rama.   That is one pitiful face.

“I can has some?”
I went out back and grabbed a tomato from the garden.  As I stood in the kitchen slicing it, I could feel Rama’s eyes on me.
((insert violins here))

I gave her a small slice.  She is used to eating tomatoes in her food.  But silly me, I gave her a slice when she prefers the tiny grape tomatoes.   Out of her mouth it came.  ((Mom person slaps herself on forehead))
Good grief.  Let’s try this again.  Since I was cutting the flatbread to fit the patties, I had some extra pieces.
We have a winner!

So together with some ranch and bacon pasta salad, it was not a bad dinner.  The dogs were particularly appreciative of tonight’s menu.
A very good side item, considering it comes from a box.  Yes folks, I do occasionally eat things from a box.
Tah dah!  Simple, yummy dinner.
