Monday Mischief–But First, Highlights From Our Trip

7

October 9, 2012 by Shannon

Hi everyone!  It’s great to be back after a week away.  I took a short trip out to California with no kids, no dogs and did the whole tourist thing around San Francisco and Napa.  After my mastectomy last May and a few unsuccessful attempts at reconstructive surgery, Mom burnout and anxiety over my upcoming surgery (trying reconstruction again), I needed a break.  My sister was dealing with Mom and job burnout so she came, too.  My husband goes out for work every year and I usually go with him and fart around by myself while he works, but this time I had company.  We had a great time.  Here are a few highlights from our trip.  Not as cute as dog pictures, I know, but I’ll get to those, I promise!

I was thrilled to accidentally stumble across one of my favorite stores, Paco Collars!

It was a great vacation.  Rama stayed at the house along with Isy (our Xolo) and Sassy stayed at the breeder’s house, where she romped with her brother and had a great time on 14 acres.  I left her there as opposed to the house because my parents (who are older) stayed behind to watch the kids and house and Rama is so much easier to handle.  She is quiet and calm.  Sassy is still an exuberant pup and the two of them together can get a little unruly.  It was better for everyone, really, but Rama missed Sassy.  A lot.  I dropped Sassy off the day before I flew out, and the change in Rama was almost immediate.  She appeared lonely and sullen.  When I was gone my mom said Rama didn’t eat as well (I could tell as upon my return she was a little thinner) and she definitely appeared to be missing us.

When I returned and went to pick up Sassy, I’d never been greeted so enthusiastically by any living creature in my entire life.  She bounded into the air over and over, doing zoomies around and around me.  She normally doesn’t jump up, but she did that day.  She was SO happy to see me.  Felt good to be missed like that!

The weekend was spent catching up on my sleep and enjoying the quiet.  Two of the kids were away, so it was fairly quiet with just one child.  I needed it.  Had a hard time getting motivated so I did things in spurts, deciding I would wait until Monday to do anything really productive.

So now on to the Monday Mischief!

I picked up a new rug the other day.  I put it down in the front room, which is where the crates are located.  Rama took a nap on it right away.  Here she is after I woke her up taking her picture.  Very cute, but where’s the mischief you ask?

The mischief would be here:

And this was after warning her away from chewing it at least five times.  We’re a bit of a slow learner.  And stubborn.  Gah!  Did I mention she’s stubborn?
